Plasma Pen Skin Tightening

Plasma Pen Fibroblast Skin Tightening or Plasma Pen Therapy is a revolutionary non-surgical, non-invasive treatment that literally shrinks excess skin, removing and/or reducing wrinkles, lines, skin tags, pigmentation and more before your eyes!

While reasonably new to New Zealand and Australia this service has a huge following in the UK, Europe and Canada.

The Plasma Pen is a unique tool that allows an arc of energy to pass through its tip to the surface of the skin. On contact the arc of energy makes the skin shrink or tighten causing an immediate lift whilst also stimulating the Fibroblasts in your skin to lay down new Collagen and Elastin.

The Plasma Pen is very safe. It is non-invasive, there is no surgical cutting, bruising or bleeding. There is limited social down time, the results are immediate and continue to improve over the following 2-6 weeks. It is a virtually painless procedure with the use of local anaesthetic cream. The results are similar to what you would expect from surgery without the downtime and at a fraction of the cost. Results are long lasting, generally 2-5 years depending on the natural ageing of the skin.

A tiny brown dot ‘carbon crust’ is left at the site where the arc has contacted the skin. This crust which is part of the healing process and generally flakes off in 4-7 days. They can be covered with mineral makeup after 48 hours so that you feel less conspicuous, however extreme care must be taken not to disturb the crust before it is ready to flake off. Depending on the site tightened there can be some minimal swelling which subsides after a few days.

Sometimes more than 1 appointment may be necessary to achieve the level of tightening desired by the client. The additional sessions are at a much reduced cost.

Not all skin tones are suitable for this treatment. Fair skin through to medium tones are suitable. Dark tones are not suitable as they have potential to under or over pigment depending on the clients healing ability. A patch test is the best way to be sure the skin is going to heal with the correct amount of pigment.

After your Skin Tightening you can expect some side effects. These are:

Localised swelling - which usually lasts 2 or 3 days. A small amount of swelling is good as it allows room for the Fibroblasts to lay down Collagen and Elastin, maximising your result.
Redness - which usually resolves within the first week, however a 'rosy' glow may remain for several weeks, makeup can cover this
Dry skin - which may flake or peel. Applying aftercare cream can help minimise the dryness. It is merely the old skin leaving the body to be replaced with fresh new skin.
Bronzing, crusting and small dark dots - The arc from the Plasma Pen causes controlled trauma to the skin being treated. These wee 'carbon crusts' exfoliate during the healing process. They can make the skin look bronzed. It is important they are left to exfoliate naturally so that incorrect pigmentation of the new skin does not occur - just like when you pick off a scab!
Raw skin - this is to be expected as a result of some of the treatments, similar to a graze. You will be given an aftercare ointment and instructions on how to care for these areas

This blemish had been present for many, many years and had of course been deemed to be benign by the lady's GP.
